Checking into the Spirit hostel was a breath of fresh air, literally. The aircon was so cold that after half an hour I put on a hoodie even though it was 38 outside. Exactly what I needed after getting heat stroke in Novi Sad. I watched the Valencia F1 and then slept for ~18 hours with a short food break in the middle.
To check out the sights of Belgrade I went on the free walking tour. It was fun and our guide was hilarious with a multitude of super dirty jokes. We checked out Republic square, the main drinking street and the fortress, plus other sights, getting a healthy dose of Serbian history on the side. I would recommend this walking tour to anyone going to Belgrade, one of the better free ones I have done.
The group that was on our walking tour clicked really well and after a traditional Serbian lunch we organised to meet in the student park to start drinking and go out for the night. Pretty much everyone showed up and many even bought along others from their hostels so we had a good group to head out with. After getting nice and limber in the park we ended up walking all the way to the Splavs to party. The Splavs are just rafts/boats on the river that they have decided to turn into nightclubs. Not the most amazing business plan as the bottles seemed to fall out of the fridge whenever a good song came on and the boat rocked from people dancing. The one we went to was pretty shitty and played horrible music but as it was a Tuesday it was also the only one that was busy so we settled for it.
I also checked out the unfinished Cathedral and the Nikola Tessla Museum. For food I would advise everyone to check out Loki the local fast food place, which does awesome burgers, just ask your hostel where it is.
Side Story:
After checking in I met two girls from New Zealand who were staying in my room, one introduced her self as Faye and the other as "..ikki"
Me: "Sorry was that Vikki?"
Her: "No, with a B"
Me: "Bikki???"
Her: "Yeah"
Me: *ahh ok werido*
The night after when we were out partying, one of they guys asked me if i thought Rebecca was hot, I was like "dude I dont think there is a Rebecca here" and he said "Yeah, the chick from NZ".
BOOM!! mind blown.
Bikki = Becky in a New Zealander accent. Fucking Kiwis.
